"Tartuffe returns to A Noise Within’s repertoire after 22 years, and it proves worth the wait. Molière's deathless assault on religious hypocrisy could hardly be more pertinent at present, which gives Julia Rodriguez-Elliott’s elegantly quirky staging an extra soupçon of satirical thrust. And there’s ample comic skewering afoot, from the opening group pavane to composer Robert Oriol’s evocative faux-French music onward. Taking a light-handed approach to Richard Wilbur’s venerable translation, Rodriguez-Elliott and her reliable design and acting forces run the gamut, from drollery to slapstick and back again." - LA Times, February 2014
"Robert Oriol merits highest marks for his jaunty original music, Emily Lehrer for her topnotch sound design, and Kristina Teves for her myriad props. Juliana McBride is stage manager and Samantha Sintef is assistant stage manager." - Steven Stanley/StageSceneLA.com, March 2014
"A veteran production team ensures that the show looks and sounds a treat, too. Composer Robert Oriol’s expressive, French-flavored original music underscores both ambiance and action throughout. Lighting designer Ken Booth and sound designer Emily Lehrer provide top-notch support, and Angela Balogh Calin’s lacy, silky, satiny period costumes are a lavish complement to the elegance of set designer Frederica Nascimento’s black, white and red color scheme, lofty multipaned windows and cushioned footstools — and the frothy heaps of petticoats that frame Mariane’s boudoir are an inspired touch." - Lynne Heffley/Glendale News-Press, March 2014
